Bed Bugs Management in Senior Living
Bed Bugs can be a major concern in a Senior Living Environment. With all the people living closely together it makes it a challenge to keep Bed Bugs under Control. Just their hitchhiking nature makes them a constant problem. With older folks it’s also quite common for them to move in used furniture or clothing that’s infested. They also have visitors that sometimes have bed bugs at their homes. Then you have all the healthcare workers and employees that work there. Unfortunately with old age the eyesight is sometimes not as good as it was. I have seen Seniors that had them pretty bad but they just weren’t seeing them.

Here are a few protocols we recommend and provide.
Education: We provide basic bed bug training for your employees, tenants and management. It’s much better when everyone knows more about bed bugs and what they look like. Also all the different ways you can bring them in. There are always a lot of good questions.
We do a Power Point type presentation with many pictures and information to share with tenants, maintenance, and management.
K9 Bed Bug Dogs: We have 3 bed bug dogs at this time. We use them on sweeps throughout facilities determining the absence or presence. We can typically do 60-100 units in one day using all 3 dogs. After the inspection is completed you will know which units have an issue and which do not. This is a fabulous way to maintain control in your facility. Some get a bit nervous but once they see the dogs perform and the results, most want us to start doing sweeps quarterly. Contact us for pricing on facilities sweeps.

Thermal Remediation Heat Treatments for Bed Bugs:
Our Electric Heat Systems Trucks and Trailers have built-in generators to provide the power for the heaters. The heaters are [placed inside strategically and it usually takes about an hour to heat the area to above 120 degrees. During this time we set up beds, couches, etc and we also do some containment spraying of host areas and outlet plates. We finish up heating at 130-135 degrees and hold the heat for 3-4 hours or more with fans spreading the heat around evenly.
We treated an entire floor of a Senior facility in Atlanta.
Aprehend: Is a new Biological Material used to help control bed bugs. We use this in some situations. Not a pesticide. It is actually a fungii that is bottled and used to create barriers that bed bugs would have to go through to reach a host.
We can also give a warranty with our work.
